It only took 37 tries! No! More! Because I took about 20 before I tried to look at one and realized I didn't have the memory chip in the camera. DUH. Greg about fizzed! We found a birth announcement online that I liked, and Greg said he'd make it himself on his computer, so of course what I found had to be a combination of two, and I loved the baby pic, so we did our own version. (Baby in the pic was naked, and frankly, I didn't want to get peed on.) They turned out pretty good! This isn't actually the photo we used, I think we used one Greg took. I took this one, and really like it! What a sweetie, Calvin slept the whole time!

Wow. A new favorite picture! I was cleaning the kitchen, and it was waaaay past Maisie's bedtime, so we got her into her jammies and into bed, Greg was reading her books, and she was sound asleep after half a book! Calvin, on the other hand, was listening intently. And he even had his eyes open! Rare occurence!

Calvin toes. Under the phototherapy lights--on my hospital bed. We had to be creative--actually our first nurse was the creative one. Calvin would not settle in the bassinette, so we dragged the lights over the hospital bed and piled him on the pillows--he could nap there. Mommy could not. Finally Greg and the nurse strapped his arms behind him and got him to sleep in the bassinette for 3 hours so we could sleep. In just 5 nights, Calvin is used to being swaddled super tight! He just couldn't sleep with his little arms flailing all over the place.

You can't really tell from this shot, but Maisie and I were having a tea party tonight after dinner. She'd mentioned it today and I said "Maybe later." To her, that meant after dinner. So while Greg cleaned up the kitchen, Maisie and I had tiny pieces of cake and some tea on her ceramic tea set from Florie. She LOVES it! I was worried for the tea set--our new tile floor isn't very forgiving if something breakable gets dropped--but she did great! Sweet girl.

Back to doing baby things! We dragged all the big baby items out of the closet in the playroom today. I had pulled the carseat cover off a few days ago to wash it, and today it was ready to be put back on the carseat. It took two people. And a stuffed rabbit. We called Maisie over to see her "baby brother" and she pointed and said, "That's not my brother!" :)

Yet another day of sledding! What fun! This photo was taken during a short thaw break. Maisie and Kiana and Hailey were tearing through the house, having a blast. I got them to take a tiny little break for a quick photo shoot. Only three tries to get a pretty good shot of all three! Cuteness.

Today was another fabulous day of sledding for Maisie. It was cccccold outside! But her cousins came up to Papa and Gogo's house to sled with her, and they must have gone up and down the hill 20 times! Then they came in for a rest, to thaw, (and hot chocolate and a little screen time) and then went another 20 times! What a blast! After the cousins went home, Maisie and I were getting ready to go--what does Gogo do? After the girls have packed down the snow and made the luge track nice and icy and prepped--Gogo puts on her snowsuit and hat and takes a couple of runs all by herself! Nice!
My camera battery died, and all I got was a picture of this icicle.

Out with the old and in with the....older? Yup. Pretty sure my Mom's couch is older than mine. But mine have cat scratches and are falling apart. Maybe too many moves! So the green couch and cushions went to Habitat for Humanity today, and Mom's brown couches found a new home in our living room. Maisie took the moving time to jump around and do headstands in the cushions.

My new project is to take a photo to archive every day this year. So at the end of 2009 we can see glimpses into what daily life really was in 2009. Not just the fun stuff when we are certain to drag out the camera. I'm not certain every one will have a story...but after today's first photo shoot, I'm glad I still have a camera to shoot with! I took this shot of a cornice on the north end of the shed. I like the photo, but thought I'd try another from directly beneath. So I backed up about 5 feet and stood under it--got dripped on. So I moved about 2 feet back and then put the Canon to my eye, looked up, and about 6 feetx1 foot of cornice fell on top of me--camera, down my shirt, down my neck...Brrrr!!!! And my poor, poor Canon! So I started running for the house, screaming for Greg and brushing the snow off my camera. I thought if he happened to be looking out the window, he'd probably peed his pants in laughter already. Alas, he had not seen or heard a thing. Only when I blew in the door with my snow covered camera did he look at me, exclaim over the camera, snatch it from my hands, start pulling it apart, and then ask if I was ok. Didn't hurt ME at all, and the camera still seems to work. Whew.
This photo has significance to me because I had forgotten what it's like to live in eastern WA. Winter. Whoa. We've had so much snow since the middle of December, and our plans to drive to Gig Harbor to visit Greg's family, or to visit our friends in Seattle keep being thwarted by snow on the pass! There is a LOT of snow in our yard right now, Greg did more shoveling today...
Project started.
